To Represent • County The Tauranga County Chairman will represent the Tauranga County Councirs interests at the Regional Planning Conference to be held, in the Borough Council Chambers on Thursday. Invitation to Board At a meeting of the Tauranga District Pligh School Committee on Wednesday evening an invitation &as extended to the chairman-of the Auckland Education Board, the board’s architect and other officers to be present at the official opening of the Hillsdene school. Katikati Patriotic Gymkhana The Katikati Gymkhana Chib has been given permission by the Tauranga County Council to rope off a side road for its gymkhana on April 28. This request Avas granted at a meeting of the council on Friday. The gymkhana is being held for patriotic purposes. Trees at Cheap Rates At a meeting of the Tauranga County Council on Friday, the Native Department Rotorua, wrote stating it could sell to local bodies farm trees at cheap rates. Councillors were in accord that the council reserves had nothing suitable t'pr planting in the mean time. Fertiliser For Hillsdene When the questipn of mainten ance of the Hiljsdene school grounds' was being discussed at a fortnightly meeting of the Tauranga District High School Committee on Wednesday evening the opinion was expressed by members that fertiliser should be applied to the area now. * ./ Accommodation For Teachers “This committee is obtaining from the various organisations the names of people willing to assist in the question of providing accommodation for teachers,” stated a letter from the Women’s Representative Committee, received by the Tauranga District High School Committee at its meeting on Wednesday evening. The Hon. B. C. Robbins, M.L.C., has been Avorking in the deputation’s interests .in Wellington recently. The chairman was appointed at a meeting of the county council on Friday last. Sub-Committee of Rehabilitation At a meeting of the Tauranga Council on Friday last, Cr. H. B. Capamagian Avas appointed to the Rehabilitation Sub-Committee. Cr.. Capamagian will be. representing Katikati interests. The County Council recommended that Mr J. Pattie of Te Puke be appointed to the subcommittee to represent the Te Puke interests although the council had to have the concurrence of the Te Puke Borough Council in this recommendation.

County Equipment The Plant Committee’s action in negotiating the purchase of several trucks, and heavy equipment, Avas endorsed at a meeting of the Tauranga County Council on Friday. Mount Anzac Day Service There will he a service in the Peter Pan Hall, Mount Maimgauui, on the occasion of Anzac Day, which falls next Wednesday. This will begin at 10.15 a.m. A parade of returned servicemen and other organisations will start from Shadelauds corner at 10 a.m. To Be Settled Shortly “We hope in the very near future to have the whole matter settled,” said the Chairman of the Tauranga County Council (Mr J. T. Reid) when at a meeting of the county council on. Friday, a. letter was received from the Pye’s Pa Settlers’ League stating the road Avas being used unduly by log lorries.
