NAZIS COMMIT SUICIDE
LEIPZIG CITY OFFICIALS
London, April 21. The Mayor of Leipzig, Alfred Freiburger, his wife and 18-year-old daughter ,also the deputy-Mayor and his wife, poisoned themselves aftei a wine party rather than face the American occupation. A high Nazi Party official who is now a prisoner, attended the paity. He told Reuter’s correspondent: “We ate sandwiches and drank wine. Then Mayor Freiburger said: ‘lt’s all over. The Americans Avill be' in the city to-morrow. When Leipzig falls there will be nothing to live for.’ The poisonings occurred immediately afterward in Mayor Freiburger’s office.” Dr. Tiller, deputy-district leader of the Nazi Party, shot himself, and the managing director of a bazooka factory blew himself up, to gether'with a section of the factory.
