PROFESSOR SHOT
FORMER FASCIST MINISTER London, April 16. Professor Giovanni Gentile, former Fascist Minister of Education, was shot dead in Florence last night by a cyclist as he was leaving his residence. Reuters correspondent in Italy says Professor Gentile ranked second only to Dr. Benedetto Croce, the well-known Liberal leader, in Italian contemporary philosophy. Professor Gentile became the leading exponent of Fascist philosophy and wrote some of Mussolini’s most striking pronouncements.
