School transport required careful supervision as there were six routes in operation: 253 children being Wr . vied to school, and children were conveyed by bus to the Waihi ** ual centre.

The assistance of the school doctor, the school nurse, the distil nurse and Dr. Burstein in assisting to maintain the health of the pupil! was much valued. The health ol the Maori children had necessitated constant care. The erection of j Maori bathhouse had been approved by the Auckland Education Department.

A rural scheme had been planned. but staffing difficulties had decided against its full development. With the help of the Correspondence School and the Wellington Technical College, instruction had bees given in art, Latin, botany, mechanics, instrumental drawing, mechanics and physics. The reports of the school inspectors indicated a definite improvement in efficiency. The public examinations were held (locally and the results reflected much credit on those responsible. The Junior Red Cross Society had been very active under the direction of Mrs Marshall and lately m Martin, 1200 articles being forwarded to headquarters and many parcels sent overseas.

Savings accounts had been established in the Post Office and the National Savings. A radio set and a film strip machine had been installed. A splendid service had been rendered by the Country Library organisation. Gifts of books are acknowledged from the estate of the late Canon Kyall and from Mr W. Wright.
