UNEASINESS IN SPAIN
ATTEMPT TO OVERTHROW DICTATORSHIP Washington, Dec. 19. Anti-Franco elements in Spain, in spite of three failures, are persisting in their efffforts to overthrow the dictatorship, says the Associated Press. The most active group so far has been pro-monarchist, but informed quarters in Washington believe the monarchists have delayed too long, and the most likely development is an army coup d’etat. Many Spaniards feel that Spain is out of step with European politics. They are convinced the United Nations will be victorious and therefore would like to improve their prospective position at the peace table and in post-war trade.
