The following is a summary of the latest war news: BHI NEW RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE The Russians have confirmed in un official communique just issued that they are on the offensive south of Xevel. The lied Army has pierced the German defences to a depth of 19 miles ou a front 50 miles wide. In live days’ fighting the Russians have captured more than 000 places, including a . number of places on the Vitebsk-Nevel railway. More than 20,000 Germans have been killed and three infantry divisions and a tank division routed. FIGHTING IN ITALY In Italy both the Fifth and Eighth Annies have made local gains.
