TAURAXGA CLUB CHAMPION SINGLES The semi-finals and finals for the Tauranga Bowling Club's Champion Singles were played on Saturday and some very good bowling was seen. The semi-final between S. A. Woods and A. Bell, both one-lifers, was a very good game, but S. A. Woods won with a good margin, the score being Woods 17, Bell 11. The final game between E. P. C. Jury, the only two-lifer, and S. A. Woods, one-lifer, was very closely contested and on the 21st head they tied. On the 2 2nd head Woods was laying shot, but Jury killed it, so another head was played. After very close play Jury lay one up, the score being Jury IS, Woods 17. Jury won by one point and one life, and becomes Singles Champion for the 194 2-43 season. MOUNT MAUNGANUI CLUB RESULTS OF GAMES The large number of visiting bowlers have taken full advantage of the fine weather during the week, and the green has been well patronised. Among the visiting players were Messrs Portmain and Dingwall, of Rotorua, president and vice-presi-dent respectively of the Western Bay of Plenty Bowling Association. On Wednesday an all-day progressive pairs tournament was held, 24 players taking part. Five rounds

were played, Portman, Sycamore, and Coley (skips) each having four wins . Portmain won the trophy on aggregate points. W. Davis won the leads straight out with five wins. On Saturday straight pairs were played with 20 entries. The winners were Bigelow (sk.), Beaumont (lead), who won all , their five games. Coley (sk.), R. Smith (lead) and Roche (sk.) and Pond (lead) were next in order with four and 3J wins respectively.
