LATEST WAR NEWS
The following is a summary of the latest war ne^s: — TRIPOLITANIA Fighting in western Tripolitania is now almost over and our fighter bombers are chasing the enemy over the border into Tunisia. Some of the Axis forces are still trying to get away by sea from Zuara but they are not meeting with much success. MEDITERRANEAN In the Mediterranean more Axis ships are going to the bottom and, as one correspondent puts it, every enemy ship sunk is the equivalent lof a considcraablc success on land. llt has just been announced that a Canadian corvette has rammed and sunk an Axis U-boat in the [western Mediterranean. RUSSIAN FRONT As the Germans fall back in South Russia Colonel Dietmar, German military commentator, has »ecn .speaking of what he terms the extent of the German defeat in Russia. He also said that the situation at Stalingrad was causwg grave concern. The new Russian move towards Markov now threatens all Hitler's ;«n«ies in the Don bend.
