Anniversary Day All shops in Tauranga will be closed on Friday, Anniversary Day, and drapers' and furnishers' shops will remain closed on Saturday. There will be no publication of the Bay of Plenty Times on Friday.

Patriotic Shop The patriotic shop was in charge of the Otumoetai ladies on Friday when they took more than £2B. The following competitions were decided: Pair of ducks, Mr Waterston; ham,. Mrs Ainsworth; three tea towels, Mrs N. N. Green; cup' and saucer, Mrs Easter, Piako, Morrinsville; frock, Miss E. Groyon. The competitions decided at the shop last week were not conducted by the Methodist Ladies' Guild. Income Tax Demands The Commissioner of Taxes draws the attention of taxpayers to the. notification appearing in yesterday's issue that the due date of payment of Income-tax is on Thursday, February 11. Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before March 4, 1943. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about February 4, 1943. Demands must be presented with all payments, and if a demand has not been received the Commissioner should be communicated with. Fat Lamb Drafts Reports have reached this office that this month's drafts of fat lambs have not been up to expectations because of the dry weather, experienced lately. When interviewed yesterday Mr L. E. Young, representative of W. and R. Fletcher in Tauranga, and Mr C. H. Jordan, agent for the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., stated that lambs were doing very well and that there had been no falling-off in the numbers expected. In fact the drafts in the Tauranga district had been better than in the Waikato, Mr Young said.
