Sparks.—Fifteen million sparks are said to be delivered by a sparking plug in a life of 10,000 miles at an average temperature of 1,500 degrees F. The Champion Sparking Plug Co. maintain that no plug can continue at full efficiency after such a life. New Ford Tyre.—According to a report from Detroit, the Ford Company there are developing a new tyre which is said to require only a small proportion of the rubber used in a normal tyre. Substitute Tyre.—After examining 2,000 designs the judges of a Dutch competition for a bicycle tyre substitute awarded the prize to a man who submitted a design for a shockabsorbing rim.
