FIERCE CLASHES
NEW GUINEA AREA Japanese Fight Hard Buna Defences Penetrated London, Dec. 3. The Japanese in New Guinea are holding out to the bitter end and are putting up a stiff fight. There have been many fierce and bloody encounters. Australian forces have penetrated the enemy defences at Buna and the area on which the remaining Japanese troops now stand is slowly contracting.
