National Savings Last week 96 towns attained their national savings quotas and many others came very close to that achcievement. Provincial centres that were successful were Invercargill, New Plymouth, Thames, Timaru, Wanganui and Wellington. Additions to the list of places attaining the half-century mark in quota attainments are Waikari, Norsewood, Dannevirke, Pungaroa and Wanganui. .Many Appeals Probable While Armed Forces Appeal Boards and Manpower Committees have already had difficulty in coping with the volume of their work, it is felt that their most difficult time is approaching with the calling up next month of 21,00 0 more men, states a Wellington message. Many employers are getting along as best they can with the remnants of their former staffs, and while appeals have been numerous in the past, it is considered probable that in respect of the present call-up they will be heavier than ever.
