Tanner Street. In a letter to the Tauranga County Council received at the monthly meeting of the council on Friday the Department of Housing Construction asked for assistance in naming a new street through the Davidson Block. It was decided to recommend that the street he called Tanner Street, in honour of the Tanner family which lived in that area for years. Proposed Association. The proposal to tform an organisation to be known as the Bay of Plenty Rating Local Authorities’ Association was again before' the Tauranga County Council at its monthly meeting on Friday last, when a letter wa i received from the Whakatane County Council asking for the Tauranga council’s views on the subject. It was decided that nothing be done at present.
Call Uj) of Men More men will be called up for service with the armed forces on November 11. This announcement was made by the National Service Department yesterday. The announcement states that married men (with children) of the ages of 88, 3 9 and 40 years, together with the inflow into the classes previously called will be gazetted. Approximately 51,000 men will be called on this occasion.
