A "MIRACLE"
ENGLISH HARVEST Greatest On Record Farmers Rise To Occasion London, Oct. 12. Mr R. S. Hudson, Britain's Minister of Agriculture, referred to the wonderful efforts being made by British farmers. He- said that some power had achieved a miracle and that the English harvest was the greatest ever recorded. Crops of corn had yielded in most cases 33 and up to 40 bushels to the acre. While some of the best farmers had produced up to 80 bushels and more to the acre.
Mr Hudson foreshadowed an even greater increase in production next year. Lord Woolton, British Food Minister, said that Britain's food was stored in 8,000 different places. Stocks were hidden in places of safety all over the country. He instanced caves, churches, dance halls, swimming baths and numerous hiding places scattered all over the British Isles.
