Send-off to Troops The Troops’ Entertainment Committee has arranged a public farewell in honour of several members of the armed forces for to-morroAV evening. The function will take place in the Town Hall.
Rugby Football Because of the pressure on space to-day it has been necessary to hold over the report of the annual meeting of the Tauranga Rugby Union until to-morrow. The season will open on May 16.
Fishing’ Season The trout-fishing season will conclude here to-morrow Generally speaking, the season has been fair. The fish have been of good condition and some satisfactory bags were secured in the Kaimai streams. The Rotorua season will close on May 14.
Poppy Day Sales The sale of poppies met with another excellent response in Tauranga this year, and the sum of £ 202 was realised. The complete returns are not yet available, and there is a possibility that this total might be altered slightly. The amount collected this year represents an increase of £ 22 over last year. Rivalry! “Of course Ave will ahvays field our best team when Ave play the Air Force!” commented one of the Army delegates to the annual meeting of the Tauranga Rugby Union on Monday evening. “You will need to!” countered an Air Force delegate. >
