ILLICIT OIL RING
BELIEVED SOURCE OP SUPPLY FOR U-BOATS MILLIONS OF GALLONS STOLEN Washington, April 20 Federal and State authorities are investigating the theft of millions of gallons of fuel oil in recent months from New York harbour. It is feared that some may have been used to refuel enemy submarines. Bargemen, dock workers and oil dealers are accused of tapping pipelines to storage tanks, and of siphoning oil from tankers into barges. Some stolen oil has been sold on the black market at less than the regular price. Four members of the ring have already been rounded up.
