A general knowledge test is good for everyone, so liere are the questions which the Judge, Mr C. T. McFarlane, put to the competing teams at the Eisteddfod on Thursday. 1. N.Z, Parliament. How many members are there? How many Maori members? Who is Minister of (a) Railways; (b) Public Works; (c) Health. 2. What is meant -by the term “Blind Alley occupation”? 3. Explain what you know about the “Lend or Lease Act.” What will be its effect? 4. Where and what importance are Berbera, Addis Ababa, Singapore, Valona? 5. Why does a Railway man tap the wheels of a train? What does he look for? 6. What do you know of the following:—Mr Matsuoka, <Sir John Dill, Sir Archibald Wavell, Colonel Donovan. 7. Name the writers of the following books: —“Guilty Men,” “Disgrace Abounding,” “Great Expectations.” 8. In dealing with an accident how would you distinguish between a common and a compound fracture? 9. Name musical work and the composer containing (a) The Jewell Song; (b) Arm Arm Ye Brave.
