ADDIS ABABA ENTERED
ABYSSINIAN CAPITAL REMARKABLE FEAT OF IMPERIAL TROOPS LONG DISTANCES' COVERED London, April 6. A communique received from the Middle East to-night announces that Imperial and South African troops have entered Addis Ababa, the capital of Abyssinia. The message does not state that the town has yet fallen.
The capture of Addis Ababa will mean the collapse of the last Italian stronghold in Abyssinia. The capital is the nerve centre of the whoje country with its converging roads and railways and there is a good aerodrome there. The feat of the Imperial troops is considered remarkable as, it is presumed the forces are those which yesterday were reported to have crossed the Hawash River, 90 miles distant. This means they have pushed on that distance through most difficult country at amazing speed. Their progress previously had been reported at 25 miles a day which was thought excellent, so the feat of covering 90 miles in 24 hours can be judged.
