MEN WITH CHILDREN
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BALLOT Wellington, Jan. 15.. Men married after June 1. last, whose wives subsequently give birth to a child, are no longer eligible to be called up in a ballot for territorial or overseas military service in the first division, providing notification of such birth is given to the National Service Department in Wellington. This does not appear to be generally known.
If a man Avho is already serving 1° the Territorial Force, or who enlisted and was called up for active service before the introduction of the ballot system, was married after June 1, and subseqcently became a father, he was obliged to continn e his military training, commented a departmental official:. However, a serving territorial in this categoo would be placed in the second division as far as the overseas ballot • concerned.
