Sergeant D. Austin and his wife and family, who have arrived in Tauranga, are guests at Hotel Manor.

Dr. D. Renfrew White, of Blenheim, has been appointed house surgeon at the Tauranga Hospital in succession to Dr. B. W. Nixon, whose resignation was received at the monthly meeeting of the Hospital Board yesterday. Dr. Nixon is waiting to be called up for service with the naval forces.

Reference to the death of the Hon. C. E. Macmillan )yas made at the monthly meeting of the Tauranga Hospital Board yesterday. A motion ot sympathy with his family was passed, members standing in silence as a mark of respect.

’ Latest arrivals at the Masonic Hotel include Mr and Miss Drysdale and Messrs Waters, Hodgson, Hannah, Edmonds, Warner, W. Turner, Osborne, Fleming, Webster and Murray.

Visitors to Tauranga staying at the Star Hotel include Mrs Snell and Master Snell, and Messrs Thurdwood, Strieff, Rodgers, Muller. Kneebone’ K. Fritzhenry, Anderson, Jackson and Palmer.

Mr and Mrs R. C. Morgan and daughter (Matamata), Mr and Mrs J. W. Bailey (Auckland), and Mr and Mrs Blenkern (Sandringham) are among the recent arrivals at Hotel Manor.
