Join the Home Guard. An appeal to bos's leaving school to join the Home Guard was made by the rector of Southland Boys' High School (Dr. G. H. Uttley) at the annual break-up ceremony. The Inspector-General of the New Zealand Forces (Major-General Sir Andrew Russell), when on a visit to Invercargill, had asked him to persuade more youths to join the Home Guard, said Dr. Uttley.
