MAUNGANUI TO BE CONVERTED

"Arrangements have been completed by the Government for the taking over of the Maunganui, of the Union Co/js fleet and for her conversion as a hospital ship," the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, announced this afternoon. "The necessary alterations will be "put in hand immediately and ' the 'ship will be put in commission in her new service as early as possible," said Mr Fraser.

"Negotiations are at present taking place in respect to the acquisition of a second hospital ship, but details are not yet available," added the Prime Minister.
