Queer Cattle. Residents of Dunolly, a town in Central Victoria, were startled recently by the weird spectacle of 10 head of cattle visibly staggering along the main street near the railway station dam. The cattle had been drinking from the dam into which poppy plants from the Soldiers’ Memorial reserve had been thrown. The cattle must have eaten the plants and been affected by the opium they contain. Hours after the cattle had been rounded up in a paddock, two or three cows were still lurching on their feet.
