Wheels of Fashion Still Whirring
We are inclined to imagine England to-day as a medley of noises—the rattle of guns, the boom of bombs, the clang of shipyards, and the din of munition factories, working at top speed, says a London correspondent. If we listened intently we could hear, through it all, the whirr of sewing machines turning out frocks of the latest fashion. Since Paris became a closed market to us, London .has jumped into the breach and is rapidly fulfilling fashion orders for home consumption and export overseas. The result of all this activity will be apparent in the styles here in the spring.'
