OMANAWA NOTES
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
(From our Correspondent) The Omanawa Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs Taylor.
After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed, correspondence was discussed. . Mrs Brawning of Auckland and Misses Mackay and Adele’ Smith of Tauranga were welcomed as visitors. At the previous meeting, each member was asked to bring along a 12 by 12 Peggy square to be made into a quilt for refugees. This appeal met with a ready response, and the making up of the quilt was undertaken by Mrs Anderson and Miss Olsen.
An interesting chat on Red Cross activities in -Auckland, was then given by Mrs Browning. The cookery competition “Anzac biscuits for the Troops” brought forward a large entry, the results being, Mrs P. H. Jensen 1, Mrs A. C. Jensen and Mias Malcolm tie 2.
A Bring and Buy stall proved a most profitable venture, and an enjoyable afternoon tea was served by Mesdames P: H. and A. C. Jensen. The singing of the National Anthem brought to a close a very hanov afternoon.
