HORROR FILMS
BANNED LIST BEING COMPILED The Hollywood Parent Teacher Association —a very powerful organisation—is working, hard to have all horror pictures banned from the screen. It is claimed that, with war films, war talk, and newsreels of war, children are being made nervous, and that horror films nrust be put on the ban- ' ned list. Studios are taking note of their censure. ; Even Boris Karloff, who has had the Frankenstein and such roles to himself for years,-is .to be put. into straight parts. He is finishing a thriller called “The Wizard of Death,” but after that no'more nightmarish characterisations. Ip fact, even in this picture, he plays the nearest thing to a civilised human being in years. On the set the other day he made a laughing reference to the fact that Mrs Karloff had been sec” around with her arm in a sling. “My wife fell down-stairs at our home and fractured her wrist,” h« explained.- “I didn’t push her or beat her up. People are so used to my horrible character on the screen they might think now that I was just the same at home!”
