FRENCH INDO-CHINA
JAPAN’S DEMANDS NOT ACCEPTED Rugby, Sept. 9. French Indo-China, according to reports reaching official quarters in London, has not accepted the Japanese demands for the passage of troops through its territory. There was a further violation by a few Japanese troops,' but this was solved without fighting. A cable report from Moscow says the Russian Tass agency has been authorised to deny a Japanese newspaper statement that Stalin and the German Ambassador have discussed an agreement between Russia, Germany, Italy and Japan, as well as the cancellation of the Anti-Comip-t urn pact. “This is pure invention,” the agency states. “Stalin has not spoken to the German Ambassador for , the last 'six months.” A message from Tokyo says Lieut.General Yoshitsygu Tatekawa, who is retired from the army, is the new Japanese Ambassador -to Moscow. After his retirement from the army he headed the Kenkokukai National Patriotic Organisation.
