YOUNG FARMERS’
MONTHLY MEETING Mr C. Hamilton was in the chair for the monthly meeting of the Tauranga Young Farmers’ Club, held recently in the Gate Pa Hall, and presided over a good muster of members. After the usual meeting, an impromptu speech competition was held. Mr A. V. Alio acted as judge and also chose the subjects, which dealt with farming problems. After listening •to some interesting- addresses, ~ Mr Alio gave his decision as follows: —
Mr A. Voss, subject, “The value of farm shelter,” 23 marks, 1. Mr Ross Hamilton, subject, “The value of farm, manure,” 22 marks, 2. Mr L. Ferguson, subject, “Ensilage Making,” 21 points, 3. All marks were out of a possible of 30. , - Two teams were then selected for a practice debate, “Does the country man serve the community better than the townsman?” An hour of table tennis was terminated by the serving of a light supper, bringing an enjoyable meeting to a close.
