AUSTRALIA’S NIGHT PARROT

Another attempt is to be, made by Adelaide aviculturists to secure alive Australia’s most mysterious parrot—the night parrot.

There is no living specimen of the parrot known to exist in the world, and wealthy collectors would gladly give hundreds of pounds for a pair. Records show that there are only 15 skins of the' parrot in the museums of the world.

The locality where the search is to be made is being kept secret. There are five skins of the night parrot in the British Museum, and, although at least a dozen must have been collected for the Adelaide Museum, it now possesses only one, caught 59 years ago.

This the most recent skin preerved for a museum. Authorities once believed that the night parrot was exinct, but, following expeditions and reports by dingo trappers and others, it is now generally accepted that it still survives.
