NEWS IN TOWN
Big Apple. A beautiful cooking apple weighing 11b. 2ioz. has been brought into the Times Office. It was grown at Te Puninga, near Morrinsville, and the owner of the orchard says it is a new variety to him. Perhaps a local grower may be able to identify it. The apple is without blemish. Fisherman Scorns Hooks. The chief topic of conversation among youthful fishermen on the wharf just now, is the ability of one of their number to catch sprats without hooks. With a tasty piece of meat tied to the end of his line, he is so quick that he can land an inquisitive fish on the wharf before it knows what has happened to it.
Rugby Appointment. At the meeting of the Managament Committee of the Tauranga Rugby Union on Monday evening, Mr. W. Johnston was appointed the Union’s representative on the Junior Advisory Board.
