Spencer Tracy placed a wreath on the tomb of Henry M. Stanley, the famous newspaper reporter, in London, on the 35th anniversary of the journalist’s death. Now on a European vacation Tracy agreed to atteiid the memorial services that were conducted by the Stanley Society of England. Perhaps no other actor becomes so much attached to the characters lie plays on the screen as does Tracy. ■
During the filming of' “Stanley and Livingstone” on the 20th Cen-tury-Fox lot, Tracy became interested in Stanley, whom he plays in the picture. Even before he left Hollywood he was planning to visit the scenes of some of Stanley’s greatest triumphs in England.
