Old London Cafes Gaily Redecorated

Old mansions now used as cafes in Loudon County Council parks are being modernized and decorated in light colours as part of a redecorating scheme.

The first house to be converted—a Georgian mansion in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington—has kept, its OldWorld charm outside but inside the three rooms used as a cafe have been given an air of spaciousness and freshness. The colour schemes are the work of two students of the Central School of Arts and Crafts.

The rooms have sky-blue ceilings, with walls of putty colour, gray or pink. Especial furniture has been designed which will be the standard for other cafes which it is hoped to convert before next summer.
