TE PUKE NOTES

BADMINTON (From Our Corrospomlciiq, An inter-club fixture, Whakatane v. Te Puke, was played at Te Puke on Wednesday evening. Many close and enjoyable matches resulted. At the conclusion of the matches the visitors were entertained at supper. Te Puke won by 10 games to 2, the following being the details, Whakatane names being mentioned first:—Ladies Doubles. —Mrs Cato and Miss Patterson lost to Misses Ryburn and Gibbons 8-15; Misses Morgan and Wolliams beat Misses Watt and Halcombe 15-4; Mrs Cato and Miss Patterson lost to Misses Watt and Halcombe 12-15; Misses Morgan and Wolliams lost to Misses Ryburn and Gibbons 11-15. Men's Matches. —Timbs and Beckett lost to Gray and Spratt 10-21; Wolliams and Young lost to Hemphill and Capon 16-21; Timbs and Beckett beat Hemphill and Capon 21-16; Wolliams and Young lost to N. Spratt and J. Gray 11-21. Mixed Doubles. —Mrs Cato and Beckett lost to Miss Ryburn and Gray 10-21; Miss Patterson and Timbs lost to Miss Gibbons and Spratt 11-21; Miss Morgan and Wolliams lost to Miss Watt and Hemphill 4-21; Miss Wolliams and Young lost to Miss Halcombe and Capon 16-21. TENNIS During the coming week-end the following members of the Central Tennis Club will travel to the Mount and play a match; —Mesdames G. Yaldei’, Watson, Fagan, Knight, and Misses M. Ryburn, Fagan, Nicholls, and Diprose. Messrs C. Lind, N. Williams, D. Knight, W. Pile, H. McLoughlin, E. Capon, R. Craig and J. Valder. DANCE The dance held under the auspices of the Combined Friendly Societies in the Paengaroa Hall, yas attended by a large gathering of dancers. The Ambassadors’ Orchestra provided the music and an extra was contributed by Miss M. Pilcher. Considerable interest was taken in the waltzing competition which was won by Mrs Climo and Mr Laurent. The Monte Carlo winners were Alisa B. Buscke and Mr W. Needham. A delightful supper was served by the members.
