AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
INTERESTING TALK BY PRESIDENT Mr F. G. Farrell, President of Hie Automobile Association, Auckland, addressed a meeting of members of the Association in the Parish Hall last evening. The speaker was introduced by Mr A. J. Mirrielees and gave a most interesting account of the progress of the Association from its inception. Membership now stood at 2 7,0 00 and the Association had now set out to obtain a membership of 50,000. There were in Taurauga about 40S members, but it was hoped that that total would soon be exceeded.
Mr R. H. P. Ronayne, District Engineer of the Public Works Department, was also present and very kindly consented to tell those present something of the Main Highways Hoard’s plans for road improvement in this district during the forthcoming year. Large sums of money are to be spent, but the area being a large one it will not be possible, of course, to attend to everything but the more pressing work. However, it was quite evident from Mr Ronayne’s remarks that the ensuing year will see big improvements in the reading of this district. Some excellent motion pictures were then shown depicting AA Service and tourist and holiday resorts in the Auckland Province. The latter picture was in natural colour and was really beautiful. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Farrell for a very pleasant evening, was proposed by Mr A. W. Every and carried by acclamation.
