Maize Market. There was again very little change { in the market for maize during the week in Auckland, and business is quiet. Merchants report a very limited inquiry and prices are practically unchanged. Values are quoted at 6s 7d to 6s 10d a bushel through store. i Hawke’s Bay Daily Mail. We received yesterday the first issue of the Hawke’s Bay Daily Mail, which has commenced publication as a morning daily newspaper in Hastings. The Editor is Mr C. H. Williams, a grandson of the late Mr and Mrs J. B. Chappell, of Tauranga. Katana Church Growth. Instancing the growth of the Ratana Established Church of New Zealand, a recent Gazette notice enumerating those persons entitled to perform the marriage ceremony lists nearly 150 ministers of the Ratana faith. It is one of two distinctive New Zealand religious organisations founded solely by Maoris, the other being the Ringatu Church, which has as its prophet and founder Te Kooti, scourge of the scattered pakeha settlements on the east coast in the late sixties of last century. The Ringatu Church has 32 recognised ministers who are entitled to perform the marriage service.
