Forty per cent, of Italian workeis will cease to enjoy a 40-bour week, introduced in 1935, as Signor Mussolini lias suspended the shorter working period in “all industries in which economic recovery has led to a large increase in orders,” permitting a week of 48 hours or longer. Rearmament workers will be allowed to work a 60-hour week. Under another decree, all shipyards still in private hands will pass into the State’s control.
