SPECIAL MEETING NEW LAYOUT APPROVED COMPETITIONS STARTING THIS WEEK A special general meeting of the Tauranga uolf Club was held in the Borougn Chambers on Friday last and there was a large attendance of members. The President. Mr Phelan, called on Mr Mirrielees to take the chair. Several matters were dealt with regarding the rules and on the motion of Mrs Ripley and Miss Goodyear, it : was decided to hold the annual meetj ing of the ladies’ section of the Club during the month of October in each year. I The question of the new lay-out of the course was then discussed and the Chairman called on Mr Goulding to explain the plan as supplied by Mr Rutter. After giving a detailed description, Mr Goulding and Mr Phelan moved that “the plan of reconstruction of the course submitted to the committee by Mr Rutter and recommended by them for adoption be adopted as the ultimate aim of all future constructinon work on the course.” Considerable discussion took place, and on the show of hands the motion was carried. The question of finance came before the meeting and it was an instruction to the committee to endeavour to arrange same and if successful to proceed with the scheme. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr Goulding and Mr Page for the work done in connection with ;the new layout and to the Chair. After the meeting had closed a general discussion took place and it was decided that to encourage new members the entrance fee be remitted for this reason. COMPETITIONS (Men) The competitions for the season will start this week with a medal round over the 18 holes. Players to choose their partners and start at No. 7 tee (see note on board). The handicapper requests that all cards be returned so that adjustments may he made. Any player not returning cards during the season will have his handicap considerably increased. The following is the draw for a Seated Hole Match to be played on Wednesday and Saturday of the present week. This match will he played over the fuli eighteen holes. C tirade players will commence at the Htu and ptay 12 holes. Any player not included in the draw or any piayer in the draw who does not wish to play is asked to notify the Secretary.
