The Robinson Cup—the lauranga Championship —was also sailed on Saturday afternoon and proved one of ’the keenest races to date. Pat Wilson was again the winner, W. Sneddon was second, witn W. Stevens third. Trophy Race Three Z class boats and two 14footers held a combined handicap race for a trophy, and started at 2.32 p.m., as follows: —Oi (L. Stevens), set.; Charin (Reid Bros.), scr.; Irene (J. Denby), lin; Leura (P. Petley), 2Jm; Me Too (T. Benson), 3m. Oi and Me Too were away first, with Leura and Charm close up. Irene was recalled, having gone outside the starting buoy. Me Too had trouble with the spinnaker and was forced on to the Railway Wharf. At the leaning beacon Leura had gone about 10 yards ahead of Oi, but when the mark was rounded the positions were reversed, Leura going into second place, with Charm third. At the next mark, Oi still led from Leura and Charm, hut on the lead back to the wharf, Irene drew ahead of Charm and Leura, into second place, with Charm just ahead of Leura in third position. On the second round the positions were unaltered, Oi finishing at 4h 42m 2s; Irene 41r 47m 16s; Charm 4h 50m 31s. Mee Too and Leura did not finish. Corrected times did not alter the placings. MOUNT SAILING CLUB Trophy Race The first race for the Griffiths Trophy, to be decided on three races on a points system, was held under the Mount Sailing Club at Mount Maunganui yesterday, the following boats starting at 3 p.m., in a light northerly air:—Toanui fG. Carter), scr.; lona (B. Sneddon), 11m; Wairere (J. Hunter), 3Jm; Oi (L. Stevens), 3Jm; Charm (Reid Bros.), 6Jm; Leura (P. Petley), Oim. lona went away first, followed by Toanui, Wairere. Oi, Leura and Charm. At the first buoy, lona led, second place being taken by Wairere, and Toanui third. Wairere slipped through to the front, and Toanui took second place, followed by lona, Oi, Leura and Charm. At the top mark Toanui led, Wairere next, Oi, lona. On the beat back lona passed Oi in third place. Down at the bottom mark, on the second round, Toanui was doing well, and Oi went into second place, but was soon passed by Wairere, these two boats keeping about six feet apart on the run to the top mark. On the beat to the finishing line, the Idle Alongs beat the Z class, Toanui crossing at 5h 13m 365; Wairere 5h 16m 425; lona 5h 17m; Oi 5h 17m 335. Charm and Leura did not finish. Corrected times made the placings; Wairere 1, Toanui 2, Oi 3.
