GASSED IN HOTEL
MAN’S SUICIDE AFTER £SO RISE A week after he had received a £SO increase in his salary, John Harold Fisher, 38, a commercial traveller, employed 23 years by the Cooperative AVholesale Society, Leman Street, London, and living in Romford Road, Forest Gate, gassed himself at the Charing Cross Hotel. His books were in order, and at the Paddington inquest no reason was discovered for his suicide.
On Tuesday he engaged a room at the hotel in an assumed name. On the following Thursday he was found dead near a disconnected gas pipe. Recording a verdict of suicide, the coroner, MV Ingleby Oddie, said that it was a very sad case of a young man, apparently in a good position and giving satisfaction to his employers. He had no motive for worry, and yet for some reason he had gassed himself. There was no evidence to show, the state of his mind.
