SWORDFISH LANDED

WEIGHT 275L8,

LOCAL ANGLER'S SUCCESS

Fishing from (ho launch Naomi yesterday in the waters off Mayor Island, Mr J. Parker, of Judea, landed a swordfish, which fought for an hour and three-quarters and gave a splendid leaping display. The fish was brought over to Tauranga and was weighed on the Town Wharf at 9 a.m. to-day, turning the scale at 2751 b. Of course there would be considerable shrinkage in weight since the fish was caught twenty hours previously.

Another party of local residents will leave in the Naomi for Mayor Island this evening.

Mr C. Hayman has been successful in securing a good supply of water on Mayor Island. A bore was put down and at a depth of 29ft. a copious flow of good drinkable water was obtained in the vicinity of the concrete building in South-East Bay. The water is brought to the surface by means of a hand pump and visitors will be pleased to know that the 'water problem at the island has now been solved.
