HORSES IN DEMAND

CLAUDELANDS SALE Competition throughout the horse sale at Claudelands on Thursday was particularly keen and practically a total clearance of the advertised entry was made. The top price of the sale, £ 46, was paid by Mr T. Calvert, of Rototuna, for a medium tour-year-old draught gelding sold on behalf of Mr W. Moss, of Rukuhia. Other medium farm liorses sold from £2B to £36; light farm horses, £2O to £27; aged horses, £ls to £l9. Good hacks sold from £ 8 to £l2 10s; poor sorts, from £3 to £6; ponies, £3 10s to £6. Unbroken yearling and two-year-old horses sold from £l6 to £lB.

Competition on the advertised thoroughbred horses was keen, the following sales resulting:— Rita’s Lass, aged chestnut mare (Thurnham —Flagship), with colt foal at foot by Surveyor, 54gns., to Mr H. W. Wilson, of Waimai; three-year-old bay mare, Mauugakowhai (Acre — Rita’s Lass), Mr T. Kempthorne, Whatawhata, 32gns.; yearling chestnut colt (Raceful— Lady Seline), Mr E. Meynell, Claudelands, 21Igus; yearling chestnut filly (Surveyor— Rita’s Lass), 28gns; Mr A. L. Seifert, Hamilton, aged chestnut mare (Lady Seline), 15gns, Mr H. T. Reilly, Frankton.
