Revision of Rules

PROGRAMME FOR SEASON

The Commodore, Mr J. Ingham, presided over a good attendance at a special general meeting of the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club, which was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday evening.

The principal business of the meeting was to adopt the rules as revised by the General Committee in accordance with a resolution adopted at the annual meeting. The rules were amended as indicated below:

Rule 3 was deleted and the following substituted: The Club shall consist of ordinary, honorary, junior, lady and honorary life members. The subscription for ordinary members shall be ss, for lady members and junior members Is 6d, the first subscription to be paid within one month of election- otherwise such election may be cancelled. A member shall be deemed a junior until he has attained his seventeenth birthday. •

Rule 4 was altered to provide for the addition of the club-house captain to the officers of the Club. A similar amendment was made to Rule 5.

A new Rule, Ga, provides for the election of a Social Committee at the annual meeting. . Rule 9 was deleted and the following substituted: All officers and the committee shall be elected annually at the annual general meeting and shall any office become vacant the Committee may elect a member to fill the vacancy until the following annual general . meeting. All nominations of the Officers and .Committee must be in the hands of the Secretary, in writing, by 5 p.m. on the day of the annual meeting; Rule 9a provides that no more than one person from the crew of any yacht or launch shall be a candidate for flag office at any election. Rule 16 was amended to permit of the appointment of judges, timekeepers and starters by the General Committee at uieir first nieeting. Rule 26 was to allow honorary, lady and junior members to have a vote only in regard to the election of Officers and Committee. Rule 27 permits of the election of honorary life members. Rule 30 was deleted and the following substituted: The annual subscription for members shall be due and payable at the annual general meeting and if not paid i.y January 1 the name of *Such member may, at the discretion of the Committee, be removed from the list of members.

Rule 31 was deleted and Rules 32 to 50 (inclusive) will how be 31 to 49 (inclusive).

Rule 31. provides that - any member whose subscription is unpaia after November 30 shall bedisqualified from voting at any meeting of the club, or from competing for any club prize, or steering any boat in any club race. Upon payment such disqualification may be removed. Rule 35 provides that the ’ club uniform shall be - navy blue doublebreasted blazer, with black buttons, and having club badge on pocket. Rule 37 stipulates that the ViceOofnmodore’s flag shall have one red ball in the inner canton and the Rear-Commodore’s flag shall have one blue bail in the inner canton. Rule 40 is amended to provide for the addition of motor boats to the rule in regard to the award of prizes. ■ '

Rule 42 makes the appeal fee 10s instead of 20s.

Rule 46 makes provision for the officials in charge of races to shorten the course in any race,-and to adjust handicaps accordingly. Rule 49 sets out the method of registration of all yachts and launches, and the allocation of numbers, at a. fee of Is. The same,fee is fixed for transfers.

Rule 50 stipulates that only registered boats, sailed or steered by bona fide members, may be entered for a race.

Rule 52 sets out that air yachts shall carry their allotted numbers on both sides of the main sail, numbers to be black .on a white background, the figures to be not less than one foot in neight. All motor boats competing in races must carry a number, one foot high, visible on bqth port and starboard sides;

Rule, 54 stipulates that any boat crossing the line before the signal for a start has been given’ shall be ordered to return and' re-cross the line, or be disqualified. ■ Rule. 75 states that a fee for a protest is not now necessary. * PROGRAMME FOR SEASON. The following programme for the current season was submitted to the meeting and adopted: Wednesday Races. Nov. 13.—Launch Race, two. races for second class yachts, and one for seven-footers. i Nov. 2,7.—First-class yachts, second and 2 class yachts. t Dec. 11.—First-class yachts, second and 2 class yachts, launch race, Jan, B.—First-class yachts, second and Z class yachts. ;‘

Jan. 22, —First-class yachts and second and Z class yachts, launch race.

Feb. s,—First-class yachts, second and Z class yachts, Feb. I?.—First-class yachts, second and Z class yachts. March 4 —-Ladies' yacht race (first class). Ward Cup for second and z class, ladies' launch race.

March 18.—First-class yachts, second and Z class yachts. april I.—First-class yachts, second and. 2 class yachts, ■.

Starting' times. —First-class yachts, 2.40, p:m.; second and 2 class; 2.30; launches, 3 p.m,: Points,—Win, 4 points; second, 3 points; third, 2 points: one point tot each boat completing the course. The seven-footers will race every Saturday, The Z class will race in Cornwell Cup trials every Saturday. During the season two regattas will be held at the Mount. Cruises will also be arranged to Motuhoa Island and Omokoroa.
