Senior and Junior Cun Finals WINS FOR MATAKANA AND JUDEA. The finals for the Gilbey Cup and Green Memorial Cup were played on the domain on Saturday afternoon and resulted In wins for Matakana and Judea respectively. The proceeds were in aid of the St. John Ambulance Division. In the senior game for the Gilbey Cup the teams were: Rangataua.—Taikato, R. Gear, K. Honiana, D. Sinclair, R. Dickson, J Parkinson, M. Ririnui, w. McLeod, Ray Parkinson, R. Jones, R. Smith, L Walker, S. Ririnui, T. Ririnui, W. Keno. Matakana.—M, Gardiner, P. Gardiner, M. Murray, Morehu, D. Ainsley, P. McLeod, C. Motutere, D. MacPherson. H. Kingl, D. Cameron, S. Ngatai, Davie, P. Sander, Rolleston, \V. Ngahoe. Matakana, defending the southern goal, attacked from the opening but the game was halted early to attend to an injury to Ainsley's right ankle. Matakana rucked to the Rangataua twenty-five but Jones and W. McLeod dribbled back to midfield. Matakana were awarded a penalty and P. Gardiner’s kick from the sideline just went outside the post. Jones led his forwards through and Ainsley cleared by the aid of a penalty. Rangataua attacked with the backs and R. Gear scored and converted: Rangataua, 5; Matakana, 0. The Matakana forwards rallied and took play deep into their opponents’ territory. Jones and W. McLeod dribbled upfield but lost the ball as they crossed over. Then P. Gardiner picked up in his own territory and ran down the western side to beat half-a-dozen opponents and score near the posts.. The kick, an easy one, missed: Rangataua, 5; Matakana, 3. After resuming M. Murray gained forty yards in a spectacular run and was tackled in the Rangataua twentyfive by Taikato. Following another run, Murray kicked over the opposing backs and sprinting through took the ball as it came down. He then passed to Ngahoe and the Matakana backs supported well, P. Gardiner scoring his second try. The kick failed: Matakana, 6; Rangataua, 5. Even play ensued for a period and a penalty kick by Murray fell a little short. A fine run by Ike Walker gained fifty yards and his design to score was frustrated by MacPherson. From a throw-in Jim Parkinson endeavoured to drop a goal from the field and missed narrowly. Parkinson followed the ball through but Ainsley forced. The Matakana forwards worked to midfield and Ngahoe dribbled and scored after evading several opponents. The kick was a poor attempt: Matakana, 9; Rangataua, 5. Sinclair had to retire owing to a knee injury and M. Rhodes went on in his place. A high kick by Ainsley was followed up by Morehu and Ngahoe and then P. McLeod secured and ran through to touch down between the posts. This player was hurt and had to receive attention, but was able to resume. M. Murray added the extra points: Matakana, 14; Rangataua, 5. Shortly after Ainsley landed a penalty goal; Matasana, 17; Rangataua, 5. The Rangitaua forwards attacked and Jones scored near the posts, Gear converting: Matakana, 17; Rangataua, 10, Rhodes, W. McLeod and Jones led the Rangataua forwards back rapidly. Ngahoe dribbled clear and Matakana attacked in the south-eastern corner and the forwards crossed but Rangataua saved by forcing. Rangataua rallied strongly in the last few minutes but could not pierce the defence and the game ended: Matakana, 17; Rangataua, 10. Mr R. Packman was referee. GREEN MEMORIAL CUP.

The Green Memorial Cup game between Athletics and Judea was won by Judea by a substantial margin. Judea, the heavier team, attacked from the start and in a smart movement carried play to the Athletics’ line. Tata secured and was tackled by Minifle, the Athletics forcing. Togo and H. Kohu led the Judea forwards , through and they dribbled over but M. Curtis saved by forcing. M. Apapa cut through and fell near the line, Athletics clearing with a penalty kick. Tata made an excellent opening and W, Matthews picked up and scored. H. Kohu’s kick went close: Judea, 3;. Athletics, 0. Judea held on in the Athletics’ quarter and John Kohu dribbled past several opponents, Curtis clearing off a penalty. Judea maintained the attack and for holding on to the ball Athletics were penalised and H. Kohu’s kick from twenty-five yards out raised the flags: Judea, 6; Athletics, 0. After the second half opened Athletics attacked and a strong kick by Castaing was forced down by W. Hall. After resuming Hall sent up a high ball and R. Walker scored. Ngatai sprinted down the* eastern side and was brought down close to the line. The Judea backs handled accurately and Ngatai crossed but could not touch down. Athletics infringed and H. Kohu’s kick from quarter-way missed narrowly. The Athletics’ forwards swept back and then Tata and Hall combined advantageously. The Judea forwards crossed, but Castaing saved by kicking the ball out. Curtis had his left leg hurt anu after being attended by the ambulance men was able to resume. A fast movement by the Judea backs was finished off by S. Kohu scoring. W. Hall converted; Judea, 14; Athietics 0. From a scrum the Athletics backs got going but could not break the defence and Hall cleared. Athletics pressed, and a strong kick saw the ball roll across for Mikaere to force The Judea forwards worked back steadily and Athletics were penalised H. Kohu landing a goal from twenty yards out; Judea, 17; Athletics, 0 Towards the,close R. Matthews made the best run of the game from near half-way and scored, the game ending: Judea, 20; Athletics, 0. Mr G Fisher was referee.

RANGITAIKI V. COMBINED TEAM The Rangitaiki representatives, the winners of the Te Hurinul Apanui Shield and the champion team of the Bay of Plenty, will play a match against a fifteen chosen from all the other Unions in the Bay of Plenty at Matata on Saturday next at 2 30 p.m. The game should provide a keen and interesting contest. The Combined team will be-Full-back, J. Biddle (Whakatane); three-quarters, G. Oswald (Whakatane), J. Morgan (Opotiki), s. Kelly (Te Puke); five-eighths, J.
