TETANUS DEATH
CAUSED BF SPZ2NXES DC FOOT. How a splinter led to death from tetanus, was told at the Parramatta District Coroner’s Court, when toe Coroner (Mr E Richardson dark) held an inquest on Henry Arthur Nichols, 79, an old-age pensioner, of Rosehilistreet. Parramatta (says the Sydney Sun). Dr. T. A. Daley, said that he was called to Nichols on July 11. Nichols complained of a. stiffness of his Jaw. Witness found a small septic wound cm his Instep, toe result of a splinter. Nichols was sent to toe Paramatta District Hospital, where large quantities of *anti-tenaaus serum were injected. | Dr. K. G. Malonf said that when Nichols was admitted to hospital big condition was practically hopeless, and he died three days later. A I splinter half an inch long was removed from his foot. William Henry Smith said Nlchois, his grandfather, ran a splinter .in his foot while working in the garden a week before his death. The wound was bathed. A .verdict of accidental death was recorded.
