management committee.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Tauranga Rugby Union was held on Monday. Present- Messrs Guinness (in the chair), Olding, Elggir, Browning, Hardy, Hare, Fisher, Keene, Maloney and the Secretary, Mr M. Slmmonds. A donation of a football to the Mount Maunganui School was made. A tentative fixture, September 16th, 1933, was given to Rangataua Club to play a game at Tauranga against the Paora Club from Whakatane. Resolved that the letter from the Tauranga Referees’ Association regarding appointment of Junior referees be received and that the recommendation for the appointment of Junior referees to control Junior representatives matches be given effect to as far as possible. Resolved that the invitation from the Rotorua Union for a game with the Tauranga Junior representatives be declined and that this Union regrets being unable to accept the invitation.

It was decided that all matters of insurance be left over until the next meeting.

Junior Competitions.—- The, report brought down by the Junior Board was approved as follows: 1. —That Baptist and Athletics be eliminated from the Oliver Cup competition and that these two team's be matched against each other for the Green Memorial Cup knockrout. 2. —That points be allotted to th6se* teams which have not played against Baptist and Athletics in the second round of the Oliver Cup. 3. —That the following draw be made for the 2Gth inst. for the remaining teams: Cadets v. Rangataua, No. 2 ground, 1.15 p.m.; Matapihi v. Matakana, No. 1 ground, 2.45 p.m.; Country v. Te Puna, No. 1 ground, 1.15 p.m. Green Cup.—Athletics v. Baptist, No. 3 ground, 1.15 p.m. Mr Browning was giranted two weeks’ leave of absence.

Points in Junior Competition.— The following is now the position: Cadets, 20; Matapihi, 19; Te Puna, 15; Matakana, 16; Country, 18; Rangataua, 6. Messrs Keene and Maloney were appointed managers for the Shield challenge match on the 26th inst.

MATCH FOR TE HURINUI APANUI SHIELD. The match for the Te Hurinul Apanui Shield betwen the Tauranga and Rangitaiki representatives, to be played at Matata to-morrow afternoon, should provide a keen contest. Rangitaiki has put up a splendid record in all matches this season and will field a strong fifteen. The Tauranga team has been altered in the back division and should be an Improved combination.

The Taufanga team Is as follows; Full-back, H. Ray men t; three-quar-ters, A. Tassell, P. Keenan, K. McLeod; five-eighths, J. Bldois, R. Grey; half-back, C. Motutere; forwards, P. Ririnui, D.
