AFGHAN KING’S SON. London, June 7

A message from Berlin states that an Afghan student, Kemal Syed, gained admission to the library in the Legation building to-day and fired five shots from a revolver at the Afghan Minister, Sirdar Mohammed Azziz Khan, eldest son of the King of Afghanistan. The victim was wounded in one lung and died in hospital. Syed was arrested. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Express states that after the murder the police are piecing together clues which point to the existence of a world-wide conspiracy hy Russian agents, in conjunction with Afghan exiles, to overthrow the present Afghan Government, which is regarded as to pro-British, and to restore to the throne ex-King Anianulla, who is a friend of the Soviet. Besides murdering the Afghan Minister Syed shot and seriously wounded a. fellow Afghan student, a nephew of® the Minister, who, when he saw Syed’s revolver, sprang toward the victim in an attempt to save him.

The Berlin correspondent of the News Chronicle says Syed declares he did not regret the assassination. He added; ‘‘l am ready to die for my country.”

Syed admitted that he helonge to a revolutionary group which was seeking to overthrow the present regime in Afghanistan. He said he had waited 45 minutes to see the Ambassador. whom he excitedly accused of "selling his country to the English.”
