MEETING OF BAY OF PLENTY EXECUTIVE.

A meeting: of the Executive Committee of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union was held in Te Puke on the 7th inst. Present; Messrs J. A. Guinness (President), A. J. Jamieson and the Secretary, Mr M. Simmonds. Annual Conference. The President, Mr J. A. Guinness, submitted the following report: “At the last moment Mr Burrett could not go and Mr Riggir was substituted. We arrived in Wellington on the morning of May 10th and immediately Interviewed Mr H. H. Sterling, our resident delegate. We attended the conference and placed our views before the Management Committee of th N.Z. Union re a grant towards defraying the expenses of the Maori tour. At the request of the Committee. I saw the delegates from the Waikato, who offered this Union £2O for a game with them m their area; we on our part to give a similar amount to them next year for a game in the Bay, On stating this to the Management Committee they agreed to donate a sum of £25 towards our expenses of travelling to the Waikato. This I consider was a handsome donation and I expressed my thanks to the Committee for the sum so donated. “Tentative dates for matches' were arranged with Thames Valley for a game at Tauranga. Auckland found it impossible to send a team to this district this season. Mr Riggir was instrumental in arranging a match with the Hawke’s Bay touring team on August 23rd. “The usual Schools Football grant was made. This money should come to hand very soon. The matter of replacements was discussed a.nd finally settled. This information has been handed on to the sub-unions prior to this report. Our resident delegate, Mr H. H. Sterling, was ■ successful in gaining a seat on the Management Committee. We would like to express our thanks for the courtesy shown by the Management Committee of the N.Z. This would enable the selectors to watch any possible talent in these two teams for selection in the WaikatoBay fixture.
