The Fire Brigade’s fortnightly card tournament was held in the social room of the main station last night. The prize-winners were Mrs P. Smith and Mr G. Pitkethley.

The date of the N.Z. Loan Company’s Te Puke stock sale has been altered from Tuesday, April 25, to Monday, April 24, on account of the observance of Anzac Day.

The annual meeting of the Tauranga Acclimatization Society is to be held this year at Te Puke, and will take place in the Parish Hall there at 7.30 on Friday the 28th inst.

Mr A. F. Tunks, who is a candidate for the Mayoralty, advertises his first meeting, which will be held in the Baptist Hall, Cameron Road, tomorrow evening. Mr Tunks extends an invitation to candidates for local bodies to be present and address the meeting.

Attention is drawn to the dates on which the Port Waikato will load at Southern ports for Tauranga. She is due here on the 27th inst.

The official opening of the Tauranga Golf Club’s season will take place on Saturday next with a mixed foursome. The President, Mr H. Watkinson, invites all members and friends to be present.
