i A search was made off Omokoroa on Saturday'by Constable Moore and Messrs D, Cummings, J. Williams, McCullough and F. Hill for the body ■ of Mr Richard Graham, who was lost from a launch not far from the Omokoroa wharf on Friday night. The search was continued yesterday, a ! number of Omokoroa residents assisting. Nets and grapling irons were iused in the search, but so far the body has not been recovered. I The county engineer, Mr A. H. Benham, in his report to the County Council on Friday, stated that the repairs to the Kaituna bridge have been completed and the structure should now be reasonably safe for another couple of years. Temporary repairs are being effected to the Kaikokopu bridge. Mr J. Mowlem, President of the Tauranga Deep-sea Fishing Club, has received a letter from Mr Eric W. Bierre, cinematographer for the Fox Australian Movietone News, in which Mr Bierre stated that he has received a cable from the Pox Film Corporation’s Sydney office, congratulating him on the excellent fishing picture which was obtained at Mayor Island. As he was leaving his home on Saturday morning to proceed to the business premises where he is employed, Mr Ken Curtis slipped on the house steps and fell heavily, his left hand coming in contact with the point of a pair of scissors in the upper pocket of his waistcoat, a severe cut about two inches long resulting. The wound was attended to by Dr Watt, who inserted a number of stitches. Mr Curtis will be incapacitated for some weeks. Myriads of flying ants made their presence felt along the waterfront this morning. The Returning Officer for the Borough notifies that the mayoral election will take place on Wednesday, May 3. A' party to celebrate the birthday of her daughter Lorna, was arranged by Mrs Morse, Devonport Road, last week. The room was decorated with bowls of red dahlias, and a happy evening was spent in dancing, games and competitions, the latter being won by Mrs Logie, Miss D. Parrel (Hamilton), T. Kennedy, R. Walford and T. Heslop.
