SIMPLICITY IN LIFE
, . —-f. “Simplicity is the whole art of living. To live simply is to live long, joyously, and free from regret,” writes Mr J. A. H. Cairns, the London magistrate, in the Daily Express. “This age is freed from the mental fears and tortures of the Victorian era, but it has its awn menaces to health. Nature is long suffering, but she is relentless. Modern fiction may depict old-fashioned moralities as an anachronism, but by some queer law nature is very old-fanhioned in her pains and penalties. Ask your doctor. We can be over-indulgent in virtue as well a« vice. Overwork is just a little better than underwork; and the incentive to it is frequently only greed. A three-mile walk can be as lofty an obligation a£ going to church, and the aongs of the birds as blessed as the choir’s anthem."
